I always knew that I wanted to go into healthcare, just wasn’t sure which field, so I shadowed a few different professionals when I was in college, so a physician, a dentist, a couple other things, and I just liked that in dentistry you can keep a more consistent relationship with your patients. You’re seeing them oftentimes every six months rather than a doctor who maybe sees you when you’re sick or for your annual exam. I just liked that I could have more of a relationship with my patients than other healthcare professions offered.
I am from Florida, so I went to Florida State for my undergrad, and then I came up here to University of Louisville for dental school, and then after school I try to take some relevant CE courses to just stay up to date and continue my education to give the best care possible to patients. By taking CE courses, you can really stay up to date with the latest research and technology to be able to give your patients the best, most up-to-date experience possible. I think the most rewarding part about my job is just, one, being able to get people out of pain.
We see a lot of patients that come in in pain, and a lot of the times we’re able to help them that same day by treating whatever their issue is, so that’s definitely very rewarding. Another thing is just helping patients meet their goals, whether it’s cosmetic, anything really, just helping them get to their goal, to their desired oral health. Whether you’ve been to the dentist six months ago or it’s been years, we’re happy to see everybody.
We definitely are willing to work with everybody to come up with an individualized plan to meet whatever your goal is.
